Thu, 28 December 2006 Wanna hear something stupid? I really like that Pepto Bismol Max song--the one with the giant robots. "When you've got heartburn, indigestion, etc..." It's really stupid, but it's stuck in my head. I've caught myself singing it around the house! I haven't sung it to Rubberbaby yet, thank God. Category: general -- posted at: 8:04 AM Comments[3] |

Mon, 13 November 2006 The time has come when I've reached the point many podcasters reach: I either have to change the format of this shindig or cancel it all together. It's just not worth the hours sifting through music directories looking for strange material to share with an audience that, frankly, isn't all that enthusiastic. I'm not feeling the love, people. And I don't risk losing my audience by saying this because I only have one listener who provides any feedback (Thank you, Samuel W.). If you want this podcast to continue in its present form, I suggest you drop me a note: rubberroomradio@gmail.com Thanks to all of you who have supported the show so far (namely artists submitting music). Rubberhead I will continue podcasting, but I'm not sure if I'm going to start a new show or if I'm going to revamp this one. Category: general -- posted at: 9:17 PM Comments[4] |
Sat, 21 October 2006 I just got back from a kid-friendly birthday party for a friend of ours who just hit the big 4-0 mark. The party was great, but that's not what I want to talk about. After the party was over, we walked back to the car, with Rubberbaby in the baby-carrier on Rubberwife's chest. Rubberbaby was very tuckered out from the afternoon's frivolity, so he had his head cocked to the side and was lolling away in dreamland. As we crossed the intersection a woman in a van turned left just next to us. She slowed down and rolled down the window and yelled at us: "IS HE SLEEPING?!" Rubberwife says, "Uh, yes." The woman says, "Okay" and drove away. What the hell did she THINK our baby was doing? Afterwards I wished I had the time to have yelled back: "No. He's dead. We're just walking around with him like this, you STUPID hag!" What gets into people's heads? Mind your own business, all you do-gooder busibodies! Geeeez! Sat, 21 October 2006 Been super busy with the kid, folks. Sorry about the delay for a new episode. My wife and I both had severe cases of stomach flu and were worshiping at the porcelain altar for days on end. I wouldn't wish such agony on my worst enemy. I think I saw a boot, a kite, a newspaper, and that piece of gum I swalled seven years ago come up! What a nightmare! Our little rubberbaby hasn't caught it (knock on wood) yet. We've been very careful to wash our hands and change the towels frequently. He's still a happy bouncing baby boy! Category: general -- posted at: 9:01 AM Comments[2] |

Wed, 13 September 2006 WOXY.com is going off the air. After a couple glorious decades as THE independent music radio station in Cincinnati and Dayton Ohio, and then two years as an internet-only radio station, the great Future of Rock & Roll signal is going silent.
This was the station I used to listen to on Sunday nights in high school when I was pretending to do my homework. This was the station that not only broadened my musical horizions to include some great "unknown" bands in the early 1980's (Husker Du, Dead Kennedys, Ministry, et. al.) but also turned me on to The Doctor Demento Show--the catalyst of inspiration for Rubber Room Radio. They're last broadcast day is Friday, September 15. I'm sure there will be teary-eyed goodbyes at the end of it all. I'm not sure I will be able to listen to the whole thing. I am an emotional guy, after all. Rubberhead Category: general -- posted at: 6:35 PM Comments[0] |

Mon, 5 June 2006 Attention all metalheads. You probably already know that 6/6/06 is International Slayer Day--the day everyone is encouraged to blast Slayer music from their car/home/boombox stereos. But, another way to celebrate 6/6/06 is to listen to WREK 91.1 fm in Atlanta. All day WREKage will take over the station and will blast death from its transmitters at the Georgia Tech campus! Wed, 15 February 2006 Pandora.com is a great site that scientifically selects music to fit your tastes (much like Last FM does). The only problem is the licensing restrictions limit the enormous posibilities of such services. Pandora allows you to skip tracks you don't like, but ONLY A COUPLE PER HOUR!!! What's that about? Now if only there were such a site that would allow for browsing of podcasts, eh? Rubberhead Category: general -- posted at: 10:26 AM Comments[1] |
